Art classes for children & teenagers
THE APPROACH
The Atelier is open to children aged 8 to 16 approximately. The unique feature of the approach is that it unfolds gradually across 3 levels (beginners, intermediate, advanced), in a personalized way. This allows everyone to progress at their own pace, tackling increasingly complex techniques and subjects. The atmosphere is relaxed and the program offers both a technical and creative approach. Each year the children experiment with different techniques through a program that includes various exercises not only from photographs but also from real life (still life and plaster casts). They are also stimulated by various workshops that allow for group work in a more playful way.
Young beginners (1st and 2nd year)
Schedule: Wednesday 5:00-6:30 PM
Techniques: pencil, charcoal, watercolor, ink, tempera, life drawing, workshops, 5-minute Art History lesson, customized course.
In this course, children learn how to use: graphite, charcoal, watercolor, and tempera. They move from linear drawing, in volume, to copying, painting from life and learn to draw while having fun and this has the advantage of stimulating their curiosity, concentration and their sense of observation.
In each lesson, we also do 5 minutes of Art History and small workshops with group exercises that stimulate their creativity.
Intermediate level (3rd and 4th year)
Hours: Tuesday 5:00-6:30 PM
Techniques: Pencil, charcoal, watercolor, ink, pastel, introduction to oil painting, facial anatomy, life drawing, workshops, personalized course
In this course, students who already have some basic knowledge will be able to delve deeper into certain techniques (graphite, charcoal, watercolor), and discover new ones such as (pastel and oil). The exercises allow you to acquire: a sense of proportion, the rendering of chiaroscuro, perspective and the faithful reproduction of colour. The course includes anatomical studies of the face and life drawing exercises: still life and plaster casts. Every trimester, small group workshops stimulate their creativity.
Advanced level children (4th-5th year – Thursday)
Personalized course
Time: Thursday 5:30-7:30 pm
Techniques: pencil, watercolor, pastel, and oil painting – Study of the figure and the human body – drawing from photos – life drawing of natures-mortes
More advanced students try their hand at more complex subjects such as the study of the human figure and body. They learn anatomy, draw sculptures and still life from real. I delve deeper into the techniques of charcoal, pastel, watercolor, and oil painting. At this stage, they can develop a truly personal project.
